I am a total carb freak! And pretty much just any carb will do. I love bread, cookies, baked goods, you name it! And although i love sweets I'm not a candy freak. I can take it or leave it. Give me my favorite dark chocolate and I can make 1 bar last forever, but give me a box of any baked goods and I'll devour it in days or even just 1 day. So this is something I've been working on very hard to NOT do. And really, how hard is it when I'm not allowing it into the house. I'm just not ready to tackle this portion of my lifestyle. It's easier to deal with if it's not in the house. Although my husband is really starting to get pissed about it. He's trying to be supportive. :) As for Bread I'm trying to cut it out. Have switched to a 1pt Flat bread and just have been doing things like breadless sandwiches. Yeah, not much fun. But hey... I'd rather use my points in other areas. besides, sometimes bread is like a bag of chips for me... just 1 isn't enough. :)
BUT last weekend at the Climb to Conquer Cancer "natures own" was there handing out free bread. As my husband has learned free no matter the subject is a YES thing... he brought some home. I calculated it and it's a 1pt food! WHOHOOO!! I'm not going crazy on it. Have set limits. No more than 1 piece in a meal, etc... and although it's not the same flavor I prefer, I'm willing to "build" a taste for it as how can i deny myself a 0pt food that i LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! So what if I have to build a taste for it as I don't really like it. I can learn to like anything!!! :) I've also grown a taste for Total. I don't eat much cereal, prefer something with more substance; but when i calculate a serving of total original and it came to 1 pt... What better cereal could I possibly eat when I'm craving a hankering of something carb related! It's certainly a better option! All in all I'm working really hard to find foods that i can use to replace my favorites and standbys. Things like Greek yogurt for sour cream and I've even been using it to substitute cream in recipes and 4oz of it is only 1pt! How can I beat that. In some ways, I really like the challenge of finding better and healthier ways to cook and eat. It's almost like I am thriving on "how can I eat the most for the lowest points". Which yes I know is kinda the whole point. But It gives me a rush when i accomplish this and end up not feeling hungry.
Always,
Jules
